President's Letter
Dear Members and Friends of the USPSA,
We are now midway through the season and planning has begun for the annual meeting in June. Now is the time to propose ideas and recommendations for moving the USPSA forward. Growing teams throughout the US continues to be the foundation of this organization. While managing competition at all levels to ensure that high integrity is maintained for all involved, the main tenant of the organization is growth and awareness of this great sport.
The board met recently to discuss matters dealing with games in regards to teams with registration issues. It appears as though there may have been some communication issues and confusion with athletes who did not complete registration but played games. The board has decided to count the results for all teams with issues, including issues player registration for games played prior to January 1, 2012. Those teams that had a player who did not fully complete their registration will have games count towards their 12-game requirement, but the games will be considered forfeits. The USPSA will make appropriate changes to the website to allow coaches, team managers, and administrators to check their roster to ensure player registration has been completed. We expect this change to begin next season. Teams playing games after January 1, 2012 will need to complete the registration requirement and any game played with a non-registered player on their roster will not be counted. Please work closely with your new players to avoid any confusion and loss of games. When in doubt, please contact USPSA Secretary, Jenny Mitchell.
As in every year, we have an election during the Annual General Meeting. This year the President, Executive Vice President, and Secretary positions are up for election. There is information below from the Elections Committee about the process. On that note, I am announcing that Karen and I have decided to not run for re-election. We have thought long and hard about this decision. After 6 years, we are proud of what we, along with past and present board members, have accomplished with the USPSA. It's time to step back and find balance again both personally and professionally. It has been an honor for the both of us to be part of this great organization.
Until next month, take care and good luck in your upcoming competitions.
Sincerely,
Dominic Russo
President

Power Soccer Clinic in San Diego

The USPSA collaborated with the San Diego Adaptive Sports Foundation and Duchenne San Diego and held a power soccer clinic in San Diego on January 14. In the early years of USA power soccer there was a team in San Diego and there is strong interest in getting them back on the map. Jerry Frick of the Fernando Foundation was on hand to introduce new players and volunteers the basics of the sport.

Eight players participated in the clinic and scrimmages featured end-to-end play with many exciting moments on offense and defense. It was a great day for everyone involved and the USPSA is excited about the prospect of power soccer returning to San Diego! To help power soccer move forward in San Diego as a player or in some other capacity, please contact Jonathan Newman at: jonathan [at] borp [dot] org
